A company needed 10 sets of various parts for the manufacturing of indoor gas detectors. The dimensions of each part were 36 x 16 x 120 mm, with a weight of 25 g. To produce the products, the developers had used ordinary FDM printing, but the quality of the parts was low. Additionally, the use of casting for small-scale manufacturing was not cost-effective.
The company asked Infomir 3D Printing for help and provided a 3D model of the products. Parts for the detector were manufactured on a Hewlett Packard Jet Fusion 5210 industrial 3D printing line. For manufacturing, PA 12 polyamide powder was used.
All the sets were printed within 7 days. The products are lightweight, durable and meet the customer’s specifications. Due to the polyamide’s properties, the individual parts are resistant to moisture and chemical compounds. Infomir 3D Printing enabled the customer to save money on small-scale manufacturing and shortened the production time of the required parts.
